Myth number five is that there is a gene that causes heart disease.
There isn’t.
Heart disease is caused by many lifestyle and genetic factors, but no single gene predicts that you are going to have heart disease.
If you have a family history of risk factors or of heart disease, you should be on guard.
But personal habits such as diet, the amount of exercise you get, and if you smoke are far more predictive of heart issues than family history.
