It would seem counterintuitive to say that coffee can be beneficial to people suffering from OCD, but it looks like it can.
OCD is a type of extreme anxiety disorder that drives the patient to try compulsively to impose order or repeat controlled rituals in order to reduce anxiety.
And most anxiety disorders are not helped by coffee, in fact, caffeine can make them worse.
But yet, moderate coffee drinking suggested in studies to help improve the symptoms of OCD.
More research in the works on this, as researchers are not sure what it is about coffee that is helping OCD when anxiety is worsened by the caffeine it contains.
So maybe the ritual of the morning coffee is reassuring enough to help us all.
