Five signs your diabetes may lead to stroke.
If you have diabetes, you’re at least twice as likely to get a stroke, than a person who does not have diabetes.
People with diabetes tend to develop heart disease, or have strokes at an earlier age, than other people.
The reason for this is thought to be that the cause of diabetes also causes deposits of plaque and inflammation on the insides of the blood vessel walls.
This plaque, these deposits, affect blood flow, and they also make the arteries feeding the heart stiffer, and clog them up.
It is thought that occasionally, these plaque deposits may break off, and block the blood carrying them to the brain.
